The prayer session will be held on Buddhist auspicious days, dedicated to the well-being, long life, and prosperity of the Bhutanese community, UNE staff and students, the Armidale community, and all sentient beings. These programs are designed as a spiritual well-being initiative, aiming to provide a sense of safety and security not only physically but also psychologically. By promoting peace and mindfulness, the sessions help participants navigate the challenges of daily life with greater resilience and positivity.Participation is open to interested students, their family members, and anyone else who wishes to join.

The Bhutanese Student Association in collaboration with the Bhutanese community in Armidale, will take part in the Armidale Autumn Festival 2025 by joining the Autumn Festival Parade on Dangar Street, Armidale. Dressed in their vibrant national attire, community members will celebrate and share their rich cultural heritage. The highlight of their participation will be a traditional Bhutanese dance performance by the children, offering a glimpse into Bhutan’s enduring traditions and cultural identity.

For the Bhutanese in Armidale, these sessions serve not only as a fitness initiative but also as a platform for cultural bonding and holistic well-being. Many students, particularly those pursuing higher education, lead sedentary lives due to academic demands. Aerobics sessions provide a practical solution to combat any issues assciated by incorporating structured physical activity into their routines.

Dangpa Losar - Bhutanese Lunar New Year 2025 celebration

Dangpa Losar is a significant cultural event that brings together Bhutanese students and their families to celebrate with traditional food, dance, and prayers for the year ahead. We extend our invitation to UNE academics, including supervisors of Bhutanese PhD students, as well as patrons and friends of Bhutan, to join us in this meaningful celebration. Also, Vice-Chancellor of UNE to grace the occasion. Losar is one of the biggest festivals celebrated nation-wide in Bhutan. It is typically a Bhutanese New Year celebration based on lunar calendar. During this new year celebration, people of all walks of life give utmost dedication to preparation and observing the new year. Because Bhutanese people believe that a year well begun will bring good health and wealth. Therefore, Bhutanese wear new clothes, eats delicacies, dances, enagege in traditinal games, offer prayers in temples and above all make collective aspirations for the nation and people. This has been a regular event of BSA and the Bhutanese in Armidale.
